Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Provided under the UK law on data protection applicable post 25 May 2018.

Lawful Basis

As part of the work of the church, we need to process personal data. We undertake to gather and process this data on the lawful basis of consent and under condition 9(2)d of GDPR, which applies because we are a church and may consequently process data designated ‘sensitive’ by regulation 9(2)d. We may also hold personal data on the lawful basis of contract in respect of persons receiving a salary from the church. We undertake to process all data in the course of our legitimate activities as a church and with appropriate safeguards.

Whose information do we hold and why?

Processing is in relation to members, former members and friends who are in contact with us, always in connection with the pursuit of our purposes as a church. Personal data is not disclosed outside the church processes without the consent of the data subjects (i.e. those to whom the data belongs).

Provided that you have given your written consent, your name and contact details will be entered into our church database which is held on the church office computer which is password protected and accessed only by the Pastor and Elder(s).  Your contact details will be removed from the database once you are no longer a member of the church – unless you ask to remain as one of our “church friends”.

To enable us to provide quality pastoral support to you and your family, the Pastor may, with your consent, also record information which may be regarded as sensitive. This information will be stored (in password protected documents) on the church computer but the password will only be known to the Pastor and Elder(s). This information will NOT be disclosed to anyone else without your consent.

You have the right to ask to see any information we hold about you (including the pastoral support information) by submitting a ‘Subject Access Request’ to the Church Secretary. You also have the right to ask for information which you believe to be incorrect to be rectified and/or updated.

How long will we keep this information? What are your rights concerning it?

We will keep your data for the period of your involvement with the church. It may also be archived as part of our historical record of membership of the church. You can withdraw consent for us to hold your data at any time and we will immediately take action to delete/ destroy it. Your provision of this data is not part of a statutory requirement or obligation on your part unless you are receiving a salary from the church.

The Data Controller is:

Art.4(7) of the GDPR defines the role of the ‘Data Controller’

"Controller" means the natural or legal person, public authority, agency or any other body which alone or jointly with others determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data; where the purposes and means of processing are determined by EU or Member State laws, the controller (or the criteria for nominating the controller) may be designated by those laws.

If you are concerned about the way your information is being handled, please speak to our Data Protection Lead Officer, who is the Church Secretary. If you are still unhappy you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, whose contact number is 0303 123 1113.

Cookie Policy

Cookie Policy

A cookie is a piece of text which asks permission to be placed on your computer's hard drive. Once you agree (or your browser agrees automatically if you have set it up in that way), your browser adds that text in a small file.

A cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets website operators know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences. For example, when you visit an electronic store, a cookie makes it easier to shop, by allowing you to place things into a shopping basket; the basket itself is not a cookie; the cookie is placed on your hard drive and keeps track of your basket versus others in use at the same time.

We have included a list of the cookies used on larbertbaptist.org below, along with a definition of what the cookie is used for. Larbert Baptist will not use cookies to collect personally identifiable information about you.

How to control and delete cookies

We know that people have concerns about cookies, but we believe that the benefit that you and Larbert Baptist gain from their proper use is worthwhile.

You can delete the files that contain cookies – those files are stored as part of your internet browser. If you wish to restrict or block the cookies which are set by larbertbaptist.org, or indeed any other website, or if you wish to receive notification of cookie placement requests or decline cookies completely, you can do this through your browser settings. The Help function within your browser should tell you how. Please be aware that declining or denying cookies may prevent you from being able to use the website to its highest capability.

Alternatively, you may wish to visit www.aboutcookies.org which contains comprehensive information on how to do this on a wide variety of browsers. You will also find details on how to delete cookies from your computer as well as more general information about cookies. For information on how to do this on the browser of your mobile device you will need to refer to your manual.

Larbert Baptist may use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. Google Analytics sets a cookie in order to evaluate our use of our website and compile reports on user activity.

Google stores the information collected by the cookie on servers in the United States. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.

Pastor - Ken Bleakley

I became pastor of Larbert Baptist Church in November 2003. Since then it's been my privilege and pleasure to serve the people in our community by ministering to spiritual and practical needs while working alongside others to glorify God and demonstrate His love.

We are a growing church family providing fellowship, support , love and guidance as we seek to follow Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. The Bible contains all the information we need and the Holy Spirit is our guide.

You're very welcome to come along and meet our church family. We'd love to see you.
